Hope Nicholson is the owner and founder of Bedside Press, specializing in archival and anthology comics collections. She is also a consulting editor for Margaret Atwood’s Angel Catbird (Dark Horse Comics, 2016). Her writing has been featured in the Winnipeg Free Press, Toronto Star, the Globe & Mail, ComicsAlliance.com, BleedingCool.com, and i09.com. She is a frequent speaker on self-publishing, women in fandom, and comic book history. She lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The Secret Loves of Geek Girls is a non-fiction anthology mixing prose, comics, and illustrated stories on the lives and loves of an amazing cast of female creators. Featuring work by Margaret Atwood (The Heart Goes Last), Mariko Tamaki (This One Summer), Trina Robbins (Wonder Woman), Marguerite Bennett (Marvel’s A-Force), Noelle Stevenson (Nimona), Marjorie Liu (Monstress), Carla Speed McNeil (Finder), and over fifty more creators. It’s a compilation of tales told from both sides of the tables: from the fans who love video games, comics, and sci-fi to those that work behind the scenes: creators and industry insiders.

PANEL CONTRIBUTORS

Meaghan Carter is a Toronto-based comic artist, with works in the Valor, Toronto Comics and Secret Loves of Geek Girls anthologies. Her webcomic ‘Take off!’ ran for four years before reaching completion, and she now works on the action mythology comic ‘Godslave’. She currently colors for Jason Loo’s ‘The Pitiful Human Lizard’.
She teaches Cartooning for Comics at Max the Mutt college of Animation, and has taught children’s workshops at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Megan Kearney was raised with a healthy love of books and an unhealthy love of cartoons, Megan’s twin passions led her to pursue first a degree in the fine arts (BA, University of Windsor, 2007), and then in animation (BAA Honours, Sheridan College, 2011). Her thesis film, Once Upon a Winter Wood was described by Animation Insider as “…a universe of emotion, effectively seized by efficient pacing, sharp artwork, and much more”, and showcased by Dreamworks Animation as one of the best student films of the year. Megan’s work has appeared in publications from Dark Horse, Bedside Press, Fairylogue Press and in various anthologies. She currently manages Comic Book Embassy, a cheerful co-work studio based in Toronto’s Chinatown, and teaches at a local college. She shares her Toronto home with her husband, a couple of grouchy rabbits, and a lot of laundry.

Stephanie Cooke is the Editor in Chief of Rogues Portal as well as a writer of works such as “Lungerella” for The Secret Loves of Geek Girls, “Huck” for Mark Millar’s 2017 Millarworld Anthology, “Home and Country” for Toronto Comics Anthology Vol. 4, “Behind Enemy Linens” for the BLOCKED Anthology, and “The 5 People You Meet in Hell,” an original radio drama available on iTunes. She is a former host of the Talking Comics, Missfits, and Comicsbound podcasts. She has worked for a variety of different web sites including JoBlo, Agents of Geek, Talking Comics, Word of the Nerd, and more. She lives in Toronto, ON.
