DESCRIPTION:Please join Ben McNally books for a literary evening\, featuring the launch of Monica Kidd‘s new poetry collection\, Chance Encounters with Wild Animals. Monica will be joined by poets Amanda Leduc\, James Lindsay\, and Shane Neilson\, all of whom will be reading from their own collections. the event will conclude with a book signing. \nWhen: \nWednesday April 3 \n6 to 8pm \nWhere: \nBen McNally Books \n366 Bay Street \nThis is a free event\, all are welcome. \n\nMonica Kidd’s fourth book of poetry\, Chance Encounters with Wild Animals\, has just been released from Gaspereau Press. She divides her time between St. John’s and Calgary\, where she is a family physician and has recently become co-publisher of Pedlar Press. \n\nAmanda Leduc is the author of the novel The Miracles Of Ordinary Men (ECW Press 2013) and the forthcoming books Disfigured: On Fairy Tales\, Disability\, And Making Space (Coach House 2020) and The Centaur’s Wife (Random House Canada 2020). She writes a column on disability for Open Book Ontario and her essays and stories have appeared in publications across Canada and the US. She lives in Hamilton\, where she serves as the Communications and Development Coordinator for the Festival Of Literary Diversity (FOLD)\, Canada’s first festival for diverse authors and stories. \n\nJames Lindsay is the author of the poetry collection Our Inland Sea (Wolsak and Wynn) and the chapbook Ekphrasis! Ekphrasis! (Anstruther Press). He has a regular column for Open Book where he interviews poets about their work. He is also the owner of Pleasence Records\, a Toronto-based record label. \n\nShane Neilson is a poet\, critic\, and memoirist. He was born in New Brunswick and much of his writing reflects this origin. At present he is an assistant clinical professor of medicine (adjunct) at McMaster University. Shane is editor of Frog Hollow Press based out of Victoria\, BC\, is self-appointed “Manifestoist Editor” at Anstruther Press of Toronto\, ON; and is editor-in-chief at Gordon Hill Press of Guelph. The author of several books\, most recently he published Dysphoria (PQL)\, a book of poems about how mental illness is regulated. \n000000
